I am veering off my ‘normal’ today as I am working on a different approach to the return of Da Smoke. I haven’t traveled into yt folx business for a minute but since the systemic and pervasive attack on the character of Amber Heard remains I wanted to chat about this for a moment.

I will qualify what I am about to say with the admittance that women can be and ARE abusers. Humans gonna human and women are humans. I don’t want the defense of Amber to overshadow that abuse can come from anyone at anytime.

When you hear that actress’s name you think defamation and shit. Literal shit, there is a shit the bed story involved here.

Let’s first take a look at one of the common factors in abusive relationships – age. Depp is about 22 years older than Heard. He is literally old enough to be her father. Not every May-December relationship is abusive [in theory] but when you add his money and his station in Hollywood and his history with controlled substances it appears to be a perfect storm for abuse. Johnny Depp absolutely abused Amber Heard. The question might then be was a case where mutual abuse happened? I say no.

One of the things that can be a challenge to understand about abusive relationships is there are times the victims will respond with confrontation and/or aggression. We don’t “get” that because we don’t understand how a person lives/processes abuse but Heard might be one of the best case studies in this vein. Depp seems, or at least while in their relationship, to be a mentally unbalanced, drug abusing bully. Even if you watched all of the libel trial, and read all the transcripts what you have is a man who was admittedly abusing drugs and alcohol and engaged in abusive activity. What many refuse to see because it will force them to see the own abuse they suffer, is that Depp was abusive. He was so abusive at times that instead of hiding or cowering the way we are taught the abused should react, in Heard we have the presentation of someone who ‘fought back’. In the act of her ‘fighting back’ Depp used her occasional retaliation as his shield.

Now I am not here to tell the glory of Heard. I mean this woman actively chose to date Elon Musk. [there is another story there but I will save that for another post]. I am just here to remind you that your defense of Depp and refusal to acknowledge his horrific humanity makes you dumbm.
