I don’t have the new nominee badge yet, but it is coming.  Yes it is coming because YOU’VE done it again.  Nominees are still being pitched but Vizionz from the Bottom is once more in the running.

This year Vizionz is nominated in three (3) categories:

Best Writing in a Blog

Best Personal Blog

Best Blog Post Series

In 2014 with the challenges presented to being Black and Brown in this nation – the United States of America – are many.  The voices of people who look like us need to be heard.  While I might never be Melissa Harris-Parry with my own show on cable news, the voices of POC – People of Color are under represented in media on the whole.

The Internet and industry of our youth today give POC voices a place at the table, and that is painfully important.  Our experiences, our stories, our collective experience needs a place.  The Black Weblog Awards give recognition to those who hold those spaces.

People write blogs for a number of reasons.  Some are pure in their intentions… others not as much.  What all who do it though could use is a little recognition for their work.  That one acknowledgment is often enough to get people to continue their work, when they are at their wits end about continuing.

This post is YES! a request to keep me in mind when voting opens in a few weeks.  This post is more though a request? suggestion?  that while you are casting your vote FOR Vizionz you take the time to listen to the other voices out there, telling our stories.

The Black Weblog Awards is a celebration of Black Social Media.  Please join me in that celebration by checking out the other nominees and supporting our voices.
